How Efficient Watershed Management Can Enhance Economical Growth

Watershed management is beneficial to the society in more than one ways. One of the ways happens to be economical growth. Though there is a direct connect between efficient watershed management and economical growth of the area or the society that is covered under a particular watershed; it is all the more important to understand what a watershed is and how it could be managed to gain maximum benefits.

As per standard definitions, Watershed could be whether underground or over the ground water resource that enriches and fulfills the water supply needs and demands of populated area. Healthy Population:  A population that is not worried about its water resource and has a clean supply of drinking water is certainly going to be relatively healthier than those who lack supply of clean drinking water.

Abundant Supply: A well managed watershed also ensures that the population to which the watershed belongs is well plush with water supply for various other purposes such as irrigation and industries. Further, it is also ensured that the supplied water once used is properly recycled and is used to recharge other water resources.

Tourism:  In numerous cases, when the watershed is big and the area is rich with flora and fauna it also help to attract a lot of tourists. The tourism in turn brings in economic value to the population.There are several other ways as well that can be taken in as factors associated with properly managed watersheds which are responsible for bringing in economic growth to a population. However, to achieve such results and to maintain them to be result oriented, it is highly imperative that the watershed management in India continues to be a habit and not a process out of need.
